Jan-Willem Eshuis aan het schilderen

"From IT-nerd to artist"

My name is Jan-Willem, born in 1978 in the beautiful village of Wierden in Twente, the Netherlands. I’m happily married to Kristel for over 20 years and am the proud father of Kiki. In daily life, I've been working as a freelance IT consultant, software architect, and developer for more than 25 years.

After several years of dedicated sports, including finishing a full Ironman in, I started drawing and painting and became more and more interested in art. With the help of many YouTube videos, some online courses, art classes and above all a lot of practice, I'm taking steps toward creating my own style.

After I delivered my work to some friends and family and received some compliments, I decided to also put together this website and start selling my work online. If you have any tips or questions, please feel free to contact me.

Method

On location or in a studio

With a compact travel set, I paint on the spot — on a bench, in a café or standing on a bridge. The direct observation gives an energy. While working in the studio turns your mind into a whole other experience.

Watercolour

Watercolour is transparent, unforgiving and full of surprises. I work wet-on-wet for soft transitions and dry-on-dry for sharp details. Each layer tells something different. In addition to watercolor, I use pastel crayons in combination with Indian ink for some works.

Prints

Selected works are available as high-quality prints on thick (350gr) paper. Each print is carefully checked for colour accuracy. Som of the originals are also available.
